by Scott Kahle 18. November 2010 21:48

There are a number of important gear items that are needed for hard labor and one of the most important are steel toe boots. These boots are often required on the construction site and many other jobs where there is an inherent danger of crushed toes. Many construction workers are required to wear this style of work boot along with hard hats and gloves in order to maintain a level of safety precaution on the site. This is one of the standard items purchased by a worker and is one of the bigger investments they will make into their career. steel toe boots

Selecting the right steel toe boots can be a challenge. These boots need to be reliable and comfortable all at once. They need to be comfortable so that the individual is able to stand in the boots longer during the day making it easier for them to focus on their job making it safer to be at work. They also need to be durable so that the individual does not have to keep purchasing new work boots. This product is not inexpensive and purchasing of it should be limited by the individual. The boots should be long lasting and heavy duty with a long life expectancy despite the rough work they may be under.

Steel toe boots can be fairly expensive. It is expected that individuals are not just paying for a new pair of work boots but they are buying a piece of work equipment that needs to last them through some rough times and a good deal of work. Many of these boots come with an excellent satisfaction guarantee and are offered with extensive warranties with replacement and repair options built into the purchase. This is vital for a worker who finds a pair of boots that offer the comfort and function they are looking for.

Individuals who decide to purchase steel toe boots online should pay close attention to the return policy. Buying an item that is to be worn can be tricky from a distance and therefore it is vital that the item be able to be returned without much difficulty. Also, when purchasing online be sure that the warranty or guarantee information is clear. These things are all very important to ensuring satisfaction when purchasing boots online.

Rainwear – Not What it Was

by Scott Kahle 9. November 2010 20:14

Construction and labor workers rely heavily on their gear when they are trying to get work done. Rainwear is among one of the most important bits of gear that an individual can purchase. There are all kinds of rain gear set ups from rain jackets to jumpsuits and overalls to boots. These are all vital to those who rely on the mercy of the weather to keep them on the job and earning the money that they need for their families. It is very important that these individuals stay dry while trying to do their jobs. Becoming wet doesn’t just mean they are wet, but could lead to illness and lost time at work.

Choosing the right rainwear is a decision that only the individual can make. Some people prefer an entire body gear while others are just looking for a rain jacket that will keep them dry. This is an individual choice and often based on their job description. If they plan to be climbing through a construction area they may not want to have to maneuver with baggy rain pants on and a hooded raincoat. However, for those working as cattle drivers they may be looking for something top to bottom to keep them good and dry the entire day through making it easier for them to stay on the job for longer periods of time and being more productive.

Rainwear has come a long way in the past several years and the materials used to make the rain gear have become more user friendly. They are bec

oming more light weight and offer excellent protection without necessarily being the baggy rubber costumes that once where a part of the get up for individuals wanting to stay dry. There are a large number of products available that allow for complete protection and complete waterproofing like Gortex which offers a thin but effective mesh like covering too keep the water out.

Many individuals choose rainwear that not only functions well to keep them dry but also has an appealing look to it. Depending on the job they hold the individual may be interested in something a bit more stylish. There are so many options available that a person would be hard pressed to have trouble finding one that worked well for their situation and tastes. The hardest part may very well be picking the proper gear for the situation out of the vast choices.

by Scott Kahle 28. October 2010 21:31

Today the selection of work pants is increasing not only in fabrics, and colors, but also in type. More and more clothing companies are tailoring their work clothing to fit the certain requirements of the worker wearing their clothing. Jeans have long been the standard for many workers, but many companies offer jeans that are specific to the job one has to do while wearing them. Berne has recently added a new product to their lineup, Carpenter Jeans. These work pants are just the thing for a busy carpenter. They come in the typical blue jean color, and are durable and tough like one expects a jean to be. The outseams are durable felled, and side seams are triple-needle stitched. There have heavy duty rivets on all stress points. These pants have a “V” back yoke to aid in providing a better fit and they also have a heavy duty zipper and button front closure. They also come with the typical dual utility pocket, as well as the hammer loop that most carpenter pants have.

They provide great features for storage with four large bellowed pockets, two utility pockets and a leg pocket that also has a pencil holder, security pocket and phone pocket. There are also two kneepad pockets that allow the wearer to add his own knee protection to the pants.

The final work pant we will talk about is the Heavyweight Water Proof Breathable Nylon Pants by Berne. These work pants are designed for the times when one needs to keep working despite the weather. The heavyweight nylon keeps one dry, but alsowaterproof pants allows for your skin to breath. Seams are tapered to keep them waterproof. The heavy weight zipper runs from the waist to the ankle and there are adjustable leg snaps to help customize the fit. High Visibility Workwear Standards

by Scott Kahle 24. October 2010 10:30

Author: Mick Mascott

Since different working places give different risk levels, the hi vis Workwear is well divided by groups and categories.

Since the first standard approved in 1999 in the U.S.A, things have changed a lot. The first standard only referred to bikers and to people that worked with heavy equipment. The new standards of high visibility workwear include in this category, policemen, emergency workers, street workers and any type of person that has to be on the road at night. All the people working in such conditions have a different risk category. According to this, they have to wear, more or less of the visible equipment, from a simple vest to a full package, meaning pants, jacket with long selves, and a heat for hi vis Workwear.

The higher risk category is the fire department. Here, not night is the real danger, but smoke. Not being able to see a co-worker in a cloud of smog, with air impossible to breathe, can make the difference between life and death. This type of job involves a higher risk; this is why fire department people have to wear hi vis Workwear that can be noticeable not only at night, but also trough thick smoke.

High visibility workwear for fire man enter the class three level of visibility with 5 cm think white strips for a maximum reflect. The first class of visibility is usually worn by people that work on the street at a distance from traffic. In such cases the strips are wren just on the legs or hands. The second class of visibility involves strips on shoulders or waist. Since these cloths started to be used by people that came across night jobs in open fields, the numbers of accidents caused by low visibility rates have seriously diminished.

Considering the fact that, most people exposed to accidents are working in low visibility conditions, or have a vehicle that can't protect them (like a bike), these special clothes are mandatory.

ANSI/ISEA 107-2010 standard for high visibility workwear is a review of the 2004 standard, that is checked every 5 years to see if it matches the new vehicles and risk factors existing in the working field.
